(From Bennett Wormington Funeral Home)
Jimmie Wayne Terry, 81, of Monett went to be with his Lord in Heaven on Thursday May 4, 2017 at his home outside of Monett. He was born in Butterfield, Missouri on October 1, 1935; the son of the late Manford and Dorothy (Moudy) Terry. Jim was blessed with two wonderful loving wives. He was united in marriage to his first love Shirley Mae Bell on August 30, 1957; she preceded him in death on September 14, 1991. He was then fortunate enough to meet and marry his second loving wife Jayne Gray; they were married in Purdy on December 28, 1991.
He was retired from the National Guard in Monett attended Macedonia Freewill Baptist in Purdy. He was a member of the Angus Association and the Purdy School Board. Jim was known for taking short trips and hours later, being a state away, still not home. While in high school he was the senior class president as well as FFA president. He played basketball for the Army team after graduation. He owned the Sears in Monett for 33 years, owned 8 broiler houses and raised chickens for Tysons for 25 years and owned (with Jayne) J&J Floorcovering in Monett for 26 years.
Jim was an active businessman in Monett for over 50 years, he loved his family and family get togethers and loved the laughter and being in the kitchen where everyone goes, he loved his grandkids and gave them unsolicited advice on life (always with his laugh). He loved farming and had several acres of land where he farmed and raised his cattle. He was a great story teller (we are sure he is in Heaven telling them today), and he had lots of bragging rights the last couple of years on his prize tomatoes.
Jim is survived by his wife Jayne Ann (Gray) Terry of the home; daughter Cindy Terry of Monett and her children Darcy Scott of Carl Junction and Nick Mercer and his fiancée Tiffany Landoll of Purdy; daughter Sheryl Johnson and husband Tracy of Verona and their children Haley Johnson of Verona, Ashley Johnson of Monett and Tyler Johnson of Verona; daughter Beth Terry of Westville, Oklahoma and her children Dean Williams of Kingston, Arkansas and Derek Terry of Westville, Oklahoma; step-daughter Angie Vincent and husband John of Pierce City and their children Bo Vincent of Joplin and Michael Vincent of Springfield; daughter Ana Gabriel and husband Harald of Monett and their children Anna of Oklahoma City, Estephania of Washington and Harald of Monett; step-son Mike Vasey and wife Jodi of Exeter and their children Brandon, Heather, Cody, Kelsey, Dakota, Keyara, Kyera, and Kevaeh; and one sister Rosella Mae VanSandt.
He was preceded in death by his parents Manford and Dorothy Terry; his first wife Shirley Mae (Bell) Terry, brothers Everett Monroe and Rollie Howard Terry; sister Cleora Ruth (Terry) Meier, and step-son James (Jamie) Sehl.
