Marlene McCormack

Marlene Farren-McCormack, age 85, Joplin, passed away on Thursday May 18, 2017 at Freeman Hospital, following an illness.

Marlene was born on January 11, 1932 in Neosho, Mo. the daughter of the late Kenneth and Eva Faye (Bollinger) Boyer. She has been a lifetime area resident. She graduated from Seneca High School and from Joplin Business College. She was also a real-estate broker. Throughout her life she owned and operated four business’, Dina Shack in Neosho, Mo., Dairy Queen in Webb City, Mo., Mr. B’s Chicken in Seneca, Mo., and a real-estate agency in Noel, Mo. She was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church, and was a strong Christian woman. She enjoyed decorating, sewing, and gardening. She loved her family.

She married Virgil Lee McCormack on September 12, 2003 in Eureka Springs, Ar. He preceded her in death on April 5, 2008. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Dale Boyer.

She is survived by four sons, Dan Farren, Joplin; Steve Farren and wife Connie, Joplin, Mark Farren, Longmont, Co., and David Scott Farren and wife Renee, Port St. Lucie, Florida; two step-daughters, Janet Fisher and husband Craig, Joplin, and Phyllis Pearce, Joplin; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren with one on the way; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Pastor Hank Deslatte will officiate. Entombment will be in Ozark Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until services time at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be given to the Joplin Humane Society in care of the mortuary.
