Linda May Burkhart, age 64, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Webb City Health and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness.
Linda was born February 22, 1953 in Webb City, Missouri, daughter of the late John Gordon and Myrtle Ketron Gordon Merl. Linda grew up and attended school in Webb City, and later Joplin where she graduated from Memorial High School. She worked as a nurse's aide for Greenbriar Nursing home, and later Oak Hill Hospital. She was a devoted wife, and mother, who was active with all her children's activities. She was a longtime PTO mother with the Joplin Schools. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Burkhart.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Wallace "Jr." Burkhart; sons, Paul Burkhart and wife Stacy of Galena, Kansas, John Burkhart and wife Cheryl of Joplin, and Tom Burkhart of Galena; daughter, Jennifer Moore and husband Daniel of Joplin; grandchildren, Madison Burkhart, Caleb Burkhart, Casey Burkhart, Johnathan Burkhart Louis "Adam" Burkhart, Jared Burkhart, Rene' Burkhart, Zach Burkhart, Nickolas Hoffman, and Ashley Hoffman; sister, Brenda Casey of St. Louis, Missouri; brothers, Rick Merl of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Tim Merl of Carterville, Missouri; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 2;00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Randy Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Webb City Health and Rehabilitation Center for the love that was shown to Linda and her family during the last few years.
