Bill Cooper

William Daniel “Bill” Cooper, age 61, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at a local nursing center, surrounded by family

Bill was born June 16, 1961 in Joplin, son of the late William Edward Cooper and Donna Louise (Barnett) Cooper. He grew up in Joplin and graduated from Parkwood High School in 1979. He held a variety of jobs through his life, and loved to work on cars, especially classic cars and drag cars. 








He was passionate about his V8 Vega, his 49 Ford, motorcycles and watching racing. He was very loved by family and was especially fond of spending time with his grandchildren, and in his garage. He loved his time at Central Christian Center, particularly with the Saturday Night Program.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a nephew, Ben Cooper.

Survivors include his children, Stephanie Stiver and husband Matthew, Matthew Cooper, and Amanda Bowman; brothers, Steve Cooper and Chris Thorn all Joplin; his grandchildren, Isaiah, Gabrielle, Echo, Ben, and Nathan: Uncle David Barnett, Aunt Nina Barnett and his beloved Aunt/neighbor and member of his Church Family, Lorayne Barnett also of Joplin; and several nieces and nephews.








A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with his brother Steve Cooper and Bruce Lester of Central Christian Center officiating.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the family to help with his expenses.
