Rex Robbins

Rex J. Robbins, 88, longtime resident of Altamont, passed away the morning of Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Carthage Health and Rehab in Carthage, Missouri.

Rex James Robbins was born on December 22, 1934, to Ralph and Hazel (Mobley) Robbins in McCune, Kansas. He grew up and attended school in rural McCune.

He lived his entire life in the McCune, Parsons and Altamont area. From 1976 until retiring, Rex worked in the maintenance department for the city of Altamont.








His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He also enjoyed gardening.

On March 23, 1974, Rex and Betty Thomas were united in marriage in Parsons, Kansas. She preceded him in death on September 16, 2006. He and Beverly Holden were married. The couple later divorced.

Survivors include:

One son – Kenneth Robbins (Rebecca) of Carthage, Missouri

One step-daughter – Jean Lardy (Steve) of Lakeland, Florida

Four grandsons – Doug Robbins, Brett Gentry, Travis Gentry, and David Hollman

One great-great-granddaughter

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; his step-son, Bill Gentry; two brothers and two sisters.

The graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 22, 2023, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont. Services are under the direction of the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Altamont.
