Rev. Robert L. Roy, age 85, Webb City, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2013 at Webb City Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Bob was born May 29, 1925 in Flint, Michigan, son of the late Jasper and Mary Roy. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He married JoDean LeMay on June 15, 1947.
He was ordained as a Baptist Minister at the age of 17, and he and his wife served many congregations throughout his career which spanned 68 years. He was a minister in California, New Mexico, and they moved to the Joplin area in 1996 where he served at 1st Baptist in Purcell and Reeds, and also filled in at several churches in South West Missouri. He was currently a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Rev. Roy was preceded in death by his wife, JoDean LeMay Roy on February 17, 2007.
Survivors include his children, Mike Roy and wife Janette of Evans, Georgia, Steve Roy and wife Patty of Auburn, California, Don Roy and wife Lesli of Webb City; Vickie Hinton and husband Kirk of Kihei, Hawaii, Jaynee Bernall and husband Don of Libby, Montana, Susan Bailey and husband Ken of Colorado, and Jill Tremewan and husband Scott of Colfax, California; a sister, Sandy of LaVaca, Arkansas; 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Fellowship Baptist Church. Inurnment of his ashes will occur at a later date in Mount Hope Cemetery.
