Edith Mae Lundien Mayes, age 94, passed away on Monday, December 30th, 2013 in Webb City.
Edith was a lifelong resident to the area where she attended the Oronogo Methodist Church. She graduated from Carl Junction High School at the age of 16, and went on to serve as the first homecoming queen for Joplin Junior College ( now MSSU. ) After she completed her schooling, Edith made her life as a homemaker. She was loved and adored by all of her family, and her legacy of compassion and kindness will live on in each of us.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Max Mayes ; her parents Fred and Versie Lundien; and five siblings, Norma Bryan, Lanora St. John, Mary Kaiser, Fred Lundien, and Frank Lundien .
She is survived by her daughter, Sue Lassiter; a brother, Robert Lundien; 3 granddaughters: Pam Spiva, Kim McAllister, and Traci Kessler, seven great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, January 2, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. in Mt. Hope Cemetery with Rev. Bob Simon officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Lett, Matthew Bickett, Michael Bickett, Alex Bickett, Gavin McAllister, and Ryan Claborn. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to be made to the Carl Junction Scholarship Fund. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
