Louis W. ‘Lou’ Denny, age 94, Carthage, passed away at 3:12 a.m. Saturday, December 07, 2013 at his residence.
Lou was born March 20, 1919 in Quincy, Illinois to the late Clovis Denny and Emma Weber Denny.
He worked at Emerson Electric Company as assistant general manager of electro mechanical products for 48 years, retiring in 1984. Lou was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1944 until 1946. He was a 30 year member of the V.F.W. Post #2590, Carthage and served as past District 7 Commander. He was also involved with running Bingo at the post for 25 years.
He married Hellen Louise Bass on December 28, 1970 in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include a son, Steve Denny, Washington; a daughter, Linda Hartwig, St. Louis, Mo; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; in-laws, Bill and Velma Bass, Perry, Iowa, Carroll Bass, Carthage; Scott and Barb Simmer, Rod Neuhalfen, and several other extended family members and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Lou was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Graveside services are planned for Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Park Cemetery, Carthage. Rev. Bob Simon will officiate. Pallbearers will be Scott Simmer, Rod Neuhalfen, Dick Frink, Doug Klouse, Jim Hammond and Tom Todd. Honorary pallbearers will be Carroll Bass, Jason Scott, and Jim Hartley. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. Monday at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the V.F.W. Post #2590, Carthage, in care of Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
