Lois Morehead

Lois Kay Morehead ‘Cake Lady’, 69, Neosho, died Dec. 11, 2013 at her home in Neosho, following a short illness.

 Lois was born March 18, 1944 in Chanute, Kansas, the daughter of Eugene and Alice (Schneider) Maxwell. She moved to the Neosho area in 1979 from Osawatomie, KS. She worked for 22 years at the Newton County Courthouse in the Collector’s office, retiring in 2010 and also, owned and operated, Cakes by Lois. She loved to fish, travel, raising roses, baking cakes and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Carthage and a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.

 Lois and George Morehead were married on June 12, 1966 at Chanute, Kansas and he survives. She is also survived by two daughters and sons in law, Teresa and Matthew Uhles, Kirkwood, MO and Tracy and Jay Browning, Roeland Park, KS; one son and daughter in law, Todd and Teresa Morehead, Burlington, IA; seven grandchildren, Allyson, Gabrielle, Iris, Isaac, Ethan, Samuel and Aaron and two sisters, Donna Jones, Humbolt, KS and Karen Johnson, Harpers Ferry, WV.

Visitation will be 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2013, at Clark Chapel of Memories.

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Carthage, Missouri. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Lutheran Cemetery, Carthage, Missouri.

Services are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home.
