Matthew Cozad, age 44,. Joplin, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2013.
Matt was born January 12, 1969 in Omaha, Nebraska, son of the late Howard Cozad and Sandra Gilliland Cozad. He lived in Springfield, Missouri for sometime before moving to Joplin where he has been a resident for the past 23 years. He was currently employed at Dyno Nobel of Carthage.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Cozad.
Matt married Heather Stout on April 7, 1998 in Joplin, she survives.
Additional survivors include his son, Collin Cozad; brothers, David Geisler and wife Lisa of Ozark, Missouri, Paul Cozad of Lebanon, Missouri; sisters, Kelley DiNenna of Springfield, Virginia, Mikell Werder and husband Bill of Joplin, and Sharen Brown of Joplin; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Titus Neuenschwander officiating. Inurnment of his ashes will follow in Ozark Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Wednesday.
"Matt had a zest for life that was contagious. He had a hearty laugh, would give you a smack on the back, and he never met a stranger. There is a void in our lives that will never be filled."
