Delbert Boman

(From Ozark Funeral Home)

Delbert Earl Boman was born in Seneca, MO “out on the Prairie” (Swars Prairie) on the 12th of August, 1938 to Willis Elihu Boman and Ina “Laveta” (Lankford) Boman. He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, an infant daughter and son, and his two brothers, Derald and Willis “Duane."

He is survived by his sisters, Julia “Judy” (husband Larry) Johnson, Brenda (husband Lynn) Selk, Cathy (husband Steve) Letts, and two sisters-in-law, Shirley Boman and Sue Boman as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Delbert fought a good fight, finished the course, kept the faith, and received his reward in death on the 8th of March, 2024 in Anderson, MO.

Delbert married his sweetheart, Sandra Ann (Sandy) Sallee on a Sunday after worship, the 1st of June, 1958. They had a love-filled marriage dedicated to serving Christ, each other, and their children. Together, they had 7 children: Sandy Kay (died June 1959), Teresa Gorsuch (husband Geoff), Jason Lee (died April 1961), Sara Ayers (husband GV), Gina Costa (husband Ivan), Shelly Moore (husband Frank), and Travis. Sandy preceded Delbert in death on March 20th, 1995. Delbert remarried on the 7th of July, 1995 to Glenda Smith. She preceded “Del-bret” (as she lovingly called him) in death in October 2020.

Delbert and Sandy shared 8 grandchildren whom they loved and adored: Thaddaeus Ayers, Candace (Ayers) Bohince, Regan (Ayers) Anderson, Nathanael Ayers, Cameron Costa, Chandler Moore, Connor Moore, and Christian Moore. They also have 8 great-grandchildren. His “quiver is full” [Psalm 127:5].

Delbert could fix just about anything, and spent much of his free time working mechanically on whatever he could get his hands on. He retired from Boeing in 1994, and spent his retirement traveling, visiting with old and new friends (Delbert never met a stranger), learning about history, working a crossword puzzle, studying the Bible, and singing hymns. Delbert was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ where he took an active part in preaching the Word of God. Above all else, Delbert’s faith in God and His promises showed throughout his life.

Delbert’s family would like to thank the Memory Care nurses and aids at McDonald County Living Center in Anderson, MO for loving and doting on him for the last (almost) 4 years. He was very happy and content there. Also, thank you to Regional Hospice (especially Brandy Roe) for their outstanding care of Delbert at the end of his life.

“But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope” [1 Thessalonians 4:13].“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” [1 Timothy 4:7].

Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2024 at Swars Prairie Cemetery near Seneca, Missouri with GV Ayers, Bob Loudermilk and Jim Bradford officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ozark Funeral Home.
