(From Parker Mortuary)Brenda Kay “Dolly” Ellis, age 59, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at the Solace House of Joplin with family at her side.
Dolly was born January 3, 1965 in Carthage, MO, daughter of the late Gary “Jack” Wayne Arehart and Goldie Mae (Thornburg) Arehart of Joplin. She grew up in Joplin and graduated from Parkwood High School in 1983. She then attended Crowder College, Vatterott, and Endicott Beauty School. She has lived in Carl Junction, Carthage, and Joplin all of her life, and worked several jobs over the years, but was most recently working as a Medical Scheduler for Ascension. She was also owner and operator of Heavenly Look Salon where she did nail manicures. She was an active member of Christ’s Community Methodist Church of Joplin for 30 years.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Michael Ellis; daughters, Krystal Gregory (Mark) of Springfield, MO, Courteney Carey (James, II) of Oronogo, MO, sons, Joshua Ellis (Megan) of Joplin, and Brandon Ellis (Grayson) of Seneca, MO, six grandchildren (and one on the way); mother, Goldie Arehart; brothers Gary Arehart, Rickey Arehart, and Travis Arehart; sisters, Tacy Arehart, Kimberly Arehart all of Joplin; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ’s Community Methodist Church in Joplin with Pastor Chris Sloan officiating.
The family will receive friends at Christ’s Community from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday.
Inurnment of her ashes will be at a later date in Seneca Cemetery with her father.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Solace House care of Parker Mortuary.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
