Joe Aldridge

(From Knell Mortuary)

William Joseph “Joe” Aldridge II, 72, passed peacefully into the arms of Yehovah in the early hours of May 7, 2025. Joe was born to William and Charliene Aldridge.

He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Toni (Thompson) Aldridge; his daughter, Rebecca Aldridge; his younger sister, Sue Annesser (husband Larry); his uncle, Bill McNeece; siblings-in-law, Terry Thompson (wife Sherry), Jackie McPherson (husband Keith), Robert Thompson, Larry Thompson, Rose Harris (husband Darrell), and Debbie Yeager; and many nieces and nephews.

Joe attended the Lone Star Country School and Carthage Jr. High School before graduating from Carthage High School in 1970.

Possessing a strong spirit and an often brilliant and logical mind, Joe pursued knowledge at every turn. From reading encyclopedias as a child to research and documentaries in his last years, Joe continually sought the truth. He excelled at working with his hands and solving life’s puzzles. From car repairs to computer software, from wood working to projects for his wife’s teaching units; he endeavored to care for those around him through practical means at every turn.

Joe also put his talents to use in his vocation, working 37 years designing highways for MODOT out of the Joplin, Missouri office.

Though the man was extremely strong-willed, sometimes suspicious and often stubborn, he had a kind heart and a dry sense of humor that could reach even the most timid around him. He had a way of teasing people that made them like him for it.

In an age of great change and chaos, Joe showed great loyalty and responsibility to his God and his family. He put their needs before his own. He taught the truth. We are grateful for the blessing of having him in our lives, and we look forward to seeing him again soon. He never liked a big fuss over him, and he would say this is too long, too much, but, we must tell the truth.

Per Joe’s wishes, there will be cremation. Services are pending at this time. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Knell Mortuary.
