Steve Willoughby

Steve Willoughby, of Reeds, Missouri, passed away on May 7, 2025, just days before his 70th birthday.

He was born on May 22, 1955, in Reeds to Jim and Lorraine Willoughby. Steve worked for the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department and on the railroad during his career, as well as working for Dale Sanders Construction. He was known for his mechanical skills, his love of working on cars, and his ability to fix just about anything. In his free time, Steve enjoyed riding his Harley and sharing good conversation with family and friends.








He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Lorraine Willoughby; his stepdad Harold Stebler; his grandparents, Andrew and Elsie Ray and Austin and Essie Willoughby; his son, James Willoughby; his sister, Jane Wright; and his brother, Jerry Lambeth.

He is survived by his daughter, Sara Boxley (Levi) of Cassville; his son, Steven Willoughby of Reeds; and his stepdaughter, Stephanie Ogden of Carthage. He also leaves behind his sister, Debbie Whitledge (JD) of Reeds; sister-in-law, Lynn Lambeth of Salina, Kansas; and step-siblings Paul Stebler (DeEnna) of Jasper, Carolyn Taffner (Henry), Diann Ison, Joyce Moser (Roger), and Pauletta Orahood (Mike), all of Lamar. Most of all, Steve was a proud grandfather to six beloved grandchildren, who brought joy and meaning to his life.

Steve will be remembered for his resourcefulness, kind spirit, and enduring love for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives of those who knew and loved him.








Funeral service for Steve will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home with J.D. Whitledge officiating. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers will be Steven Willoughby, Sara Boxley, Levi Boxley, Blake Willoughby, Matt Barnard, and Bud Whitledge. Burial will follow in Jasper Cemetery, Reeds, Missouri. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family through our website www.housh-goodwinfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the funeral home for funeral expenses.
