(From Sisco Funeral Home)Geraldine Nickel, 85, of Joplin, Missouri passed away Sunday, July 13, 2025 in Joplin. She was born November 27, 1939 in Dolph, Arkansas to Arthur Dorey and Hazel May Trahman Dorey. She was from a large family and was one of eleven children, Arthur Dorey, Jr, Charles Dorey, Paul Dorey, Helen Dillard, Maxine Seigal, Roy Trahman, Evelyn Woods, Francis Dillard, Rosalie Browning, and Mary Cash.
She worked for Walmart in Joplin for several years. She loved to plant flowers, especially peonies and roses and watch hummingbirds feeding on them. She took the game of Bingo very seriously and even had her own personal Bingo stamps for the different holidays! She was a Christian and attended the Baptist Church.
Geraldine was selfless, loving, caring and always put others first. She will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Dean Nickel, whom she married August 14, 1964 and their only son, Larry Dean Nickel.
Geraldine is survived by her two granddaughters, Ashley Knisley (Homer) of Jasper, Missouri and Amber Johnson (Jake) of Baxter Springs, Kansas; five great-grandchildren, Ely Knisley (Hailey), Gatlin Knisley, David Helman, Lauren Helman and Carlie Barnes; and two great-great-grandchildren, Adalynn and Emersyn Knisley.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2025 at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge, Arkansas. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Sisco Funeral Home with Pastor Tommy Dorey officiating. Private burial will follow at Pace Cemetery in Garfield, Arkansas.
