Kim McCracken

Kim McCracken, age 67, of Monett, MO passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, MO with family by her side. 

Kim was born in Joplin, MO on Friday, December 20, 1957; daughter of Bill and Dorothy (Clifton) Jones. She graduated from Monett High School in 1976 and furthered her education at Missouri Southern State University and Southwest Missouri State University where she obtained Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education. 








Kim married Darrell McCracken on Saturday, October 18, 1980, in Monett, MO. Mrs. McCracken spent her career as a teacher and counselor in the public school system. She touched many students and families. She worked with at-risk students who many had given up on and made a difference in their lives. Mrs. McCracken was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She loved her family so much and enjoyed camping, floating on the pontoon boat, traveling, and cooking for them. She was very family oriented. Spending time with her family and taking care of her parents was important to her. Mrs. McCracken was a member of the Waymark church in Monett, MO. She will be missed by many.

Surviving are the following: her husband Darrell of Monett, MO; one son, Austin (Nicole) McCracken of Pierce City, MO; two precious grandchildren, Mason and Colter McCracken; mother, Dorothy Jones of Monett, MO; two siblings, Biff (Karon) Jones of Aurora, MO and Cindy (Ed) Boes of Jasper, MO; several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.

Mrs. McCracken was preceded in death by her father, Bill Jones and a brother, Clifton Wayne Jones.

The family will receive friends where they will celebrate Kim's life and the impact she had on others at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM.








Funeral services will be at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Friday, July 18, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM with Pastor Bill Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Comfort Cemetery in Rocky Comfort, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Kim McCracken's grandchildren's college fund (checks written to Austin McCracken) in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
