(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Herbertta Jean (Derfelt) Coble, age 88 of Galena, passed away at 8:25 AM on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at Galena Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Herbertta was born in Galena on May 16, 1937 to the union of Ora Leonard Derfelt and Sarah Belle (Wade) Derfelt. She graduated from Riverton High School, and later earned an Associates Degree from Joplin Business College. For over 23 years, she worked as a secretary at Thomas Fruit Company in Joplin. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Galena and was a lifetime Galena resident.
She was united in marriage with William Lee Coble on July 22, 1961 in Galena. He preceded her in death on December 23, 2020.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Ora and Sarah Belle Derfelt; and one brother, Paul Derfelt. Survivors include her nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 5. 2025 at Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena. Visitation will take place on the same day at 1:00 PM immediately prior to the service. Pallbearers serving will be Jeremy Matthews, Mike Matthews, Kyle Matthews, TJ Strausbaugh, Steven Strausbaugh, and Stephen Sieber, with Matthew Coble listed as honorary.
