(From Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home)Rita Geraldine "Jeri" Tisdale, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, August 10, 2025, at the age of 89, following a recent decline in health. She spent her final days surrounded by love and care at the Autumn Place Assisted Living facility in Joplin, Missouri.
Born on December 2, 1935, in Carterville, Missouri, Jeri was the beloved daughter of George and Bernice (Woodard) Taylor. She grew up in the close-knit community of Webb City, Missouri, where she formed lifelong friendships and developed a strong sense of community.
Jeri's professional life was marked by her role as an executive secretary at Bagcraft, where she retired in 1993 after many years of dedicated service. On April 2, 1983, she married Alvan Tisdale, and together they shared many happy years until his passing on March 20, 2018.
Jeri was of the Baptist faith. Her conviction was a guiding light throughout her life and provided her with comfort during times of joy and sorrow.
Jeri's zest for life was evident in her hobbies and interests. She found great joy in fishing, where the serenity of nature was a welcome respite from the busyness of life. Casino hopping and attending estate sales were among her favorite pastimes, offering her excitement and the thrill of discovery. Her laughter and enthusiasm were infectious, and she had a unique ability to make every outing an adventure.
Jeri's legacy is carried on by her loving family. She is survived by her two children, Deborah McBride and her husband, Mike, of Webb City, Missouri, and Don Yocum and his wife, Tammie, of Cape Coral, Florida. Her family circle also includes two stepchildren, Frank Tisdale and his wife, Pat, of Joplin, Missouri, and Sabrina "Sue" Cook and her husband, Mitch, of Joplin, Missouri. Jeri was a grandmother to ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Jeri leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends who were touched by her kindness and grace.
Jeri was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alvan, and her sister, Barbara Kennon. Her departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved her, but her spirit will continue to live on through the countless memories shared.
Graveside services to honor the life of Rita Geraldine "Jeri" Tisdale will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Webb City, Missouri. The service will be officiated by Zack Thomas, reflecting on Jeri's life and the impact she had on those around her. Arrangements are under the care of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City, Missouri.
