Ruth Knaust

(From Parker Mortuary)

Mrs. Alma “Ruth” Knaust, age 84, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at their home in Joplin, Missouri, after a brief illness. She was born at home on August 21, 1933, in Meinert, near Lockwood, Missouri, to the late Henry and Alma “Edna” (Von Stroh) Backs. She was the youngest of three children.

Ruth married William H. Knaust of Hoberg, Missouri, on May 29, 1955. They renewed their wedding vows on their 50th anniversary and celebrated their 60th anniversary at their church with family and friends. Her husband survives.

Survivors also include her daughters, Marsha Knaust of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Marilyn Rooks and husband Frank of Jasper, Missouri; and son Marion Knaust and wife Marian of Springdale, Arkansas; and three grandchildren, Renee Casey and husband Tyler of Pittsburg, Kansas; and Kayla and Cayden Knaust of Springdale, Arkansas. She is also survived by her sister Janet Knaust and brother.

Ruth graduated from Lockwood High School in Lockwood, Missouri, in 1951 and has been a resident of Joplin, Missouri, since 1955. She was a stay-at-home mother after they began their family and later worked at Tri-State Motor Transit before retiring.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and will surely be missed by those who knew her. She loved being a wife and was a very attentive, nurturing mother. She always enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, refinishing antique furniture, growing beautiful flowers, was a great seamstress and always loved the Christmas season. She would share her love of Christmas by distributing plates of homemade goodies to friends. Ruth and her husband shared their love for God by serving in a trucking ministry hosted by their church. She also attended Bible Study Fellowship and participated in Evangelism Explosion.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Joplin, Missouri. Burial will follow in Stone Cemetery in Diamond, Missouri. Visitation is Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Parker Mortuary, Joplin. Memorial contributions may be made to Watered Gardens in Joplin.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
