Berta Hobbs

Berta Alice Hobbs was born June 13, 1930 in Sperry, Oklahoma, the daughter of Elmer Guy and Alice Arlene (Six) Gilleland. She peacefully passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021, surrounded by her family. 

Berta was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. Having been baptized as a child at Turley Methodist Church. She often led the choir in the churches she attended in Sperry and Tulsa. Employed as a pharmacy clerk, she retired to Spavinaw, Oklahoma where she continued to serve as worship leader. 








In 2012, she relocated to Neosho, Missouri to be near her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren fondly remember her delicious homemade noodles which she prepared every holiday. She was an avid reader who enjoyed a great laugh with her friends and especially loved watching her great grandchildren play.

Berta is preceded in death by her seven siblings: Ruth Powell, H. Marie Durkee, Lelabelle McClure, Elmer (Doc) Gilleland, James Gilleland, Imogene Holcomb and Shirley Gilleland. In addition, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Chester Perigo and second husband, Vernon Hobbs; her son Gary Perigo, grandson, Toby and daughter-in-law, Loretta Perigo. Berta is survived by a son, Timothy and Caroline Perigo, grandchildren, Dawn Renae Perigo, Andrew and Kelli Perigo, Lindsay and David DeWelt and Kelly and Kyle Snodgrass and great grandchildren, Rhett, Beckett, Mason and Maddox.

Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho. Contributions in memory of Berta may be made to the Neosho United Methodist Church, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66; Neosho, Missouri 64850
