(From Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home)Bruce Allen VanSlyke, age 73, of Webb City, Missouri, passed away Friday, September 3, 2021.
Bruce was born April 22, 1948 in Joplin, Missouri to the late Doyle and Norma (Thornberry) VanSlyke. He worked over 50 years as a machinist.
Bruce was united in marriage to Mary (Clugston) VanSlyke on July 31, 2020 in Miami, Oklahoma.
Bruce enjoyed fishing with one of his good friends, Jay Ellis and all the Ellis brothers, coon hunting with his old partner, Mike Boone and his favorite dog Rusty, and working. He was a generous, loving, and helpful friend to all who knew him.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Mary; son, Todd VanSlyke; two step-children, Sheri LaForge (Scott) and Craig Zwahlen (Sara); six grandchildren, Michael VanSlyke (Hailey), Molly Doke (Harold), Faith LaForge, Gracie LaForge, Finley LaForge, and Olivia Zwahlen; two great-grandchildren, Drake Doke and Sawyer Doke; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by his first wife, Cathy VanSlyke.
Celebration of Life Sunday, September 26, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. at Oronogo City Park.
Cremation arrangements are under the special care and direction of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home.
