(From Parker Mortuary)Arthur “Art” Wayne DeMint Jr., age 67, of Joplin, passed away on December 3, 2021 at Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, KS.
Art, son of Arthur Wayne DeMint Sr. and JoAnna (Lathem) DeMint, was born on December 7, 1953 in Patuxent River, MD. He moved to Joplin with his family at a young age and was a 1973 graduate of Parkwood High School in Joplin.
Soon after he attended Missouri Southern State University where he attained his Associate Degree in Drafting and Design. During his time at MSSU, he met Kathy Thomas, while he was a member of a Christian musical group. On April 6, 1979 he and Kathy were united in marriage at the First Baptist Church in Joplin. Art was previously employed as an Electrical Engineer with LaBarge, Able Body, Eagle Picher, and most currently with Celltron in Galena, KS since 2006. Art was a loving and devoted husband and father. He enjoyed his family and making memories with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy DeMint, of Joplin; his mother, JoAnna (Lathem) DeMint, of Joplin; three children, Jeremy DeMint, of Baxter Springs, Sarah DeMint and Jennifer DeMint, both of Joplin; three grandchildren, Xavier DeMint, Lexi DeMint, and Laney DeMint; two brothers, Brian DeMint, his wife Dena, and daughter Natalie of Joplin, and Michael DeMint, also of Joplin; and several extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Wayne DeMint Sr.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Sunday, December 12, 2021 beginning at 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM in the chapel of Parker Mortuary in Joplin.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
