(From Buchanan Funeral Home)Lois Ellen “Sonye” Moomaw, 87, of Monett, MO, passed from this life on Monday, December 13, 2021 following a short illness.
Sonye was born on October 8, 1934 in Verona, MO, daughter of the late George Earl “Grampsie” Pennell and Lucy Leoma “Suess” (Morlan) Pennell. Sonye graduated from Verona High School with the class of 1952. She was a member of the Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church. She loved going to church, she loved her Lord and Savior, and she loved her church family.
On April 19, 1954, Lois was united in marriage to John Leroy Moomaw. To this union, they were blessed with two sons. Sonye and John shared over forty-six years together before his passing on May 17, 2000. Sonye was also preceded in death by one brother, George Pennell.
Survivors include her sons, Jim Moomaw and wife Vickie, of Destin, FL and Dale Moomaw, of Reeds, MO; five grandchildren, Stephanie Horsley and husband Michael, Jennifer Koger and husband Chad, Chance Moomaw, Isaac Plumb and wife Caitlin and Gus Plumb; two great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Beckett Plumb; two brothers, Gabe Pennell and Dewey Pennell; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
No formal services are planned at this time. In memory of Sonye, memorial donations may be made to Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home.
