(From Parker Mortuary)Myles Lee Pennington, age 93 of Joplin, passed away at Freeman Hospital in Joplin on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 after an extended illness. Myles was born on August 29, 1929 in Vernon, Alabama to the late Walter and Mary Rogers Pennington.
After his years in school, Myles joined the military, serving in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corp. Myles later moved to Michigan where he worked for the Ford Motor Company, retiring and moving to Joplin in 1981. He was a proud member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church and the Joplin N.A.A.C.P. organization.
Myles married Sarah Josephine Allen on October 24, 1953 in Joplin. She survives of the home after nearly 70 years of marriage. Additional survivors include a sister, Helen McWilliams of Cincinnati, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.
Family has requested cremation arrangements under the care of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri. No services are planned at this time.
