Robert Jay

(From Stumpff Funeral Home)

Robert Carl Jay was born on August 22, 1941 in Jenkins, Mo and passed away on March 3, 2023 at Cox South in Springfield, Mo.

Robert was an avid hunter and fisherman all of his life and shared that love with his wife and children. Robert was a talented sewing machine mechanic, working many years for Crane Manufacturing and Hagle Industries until he retired.

After retirement he continued to use his mechanical talents working with his son, helping to build his heating and air business.

Robert was the true embodiment of “hillbilly ingenuity”. Although he did not pursue higher education, he was highly intelligent and could come up with clever ways to solve problems even if all he had was a piece of bailing wire.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Jay, his infant children, daughter Angela and son Clinton and his teenaged grandson Justice, as well as his sister Goldie Williams and brothers Orville, Henry Jr, Terry Lynn and Jerry Jay.

He is survived by his wife Linda Jay of Reeds Spring, Mo, his son Bryan Keith Jay and daughter in law Ladonna Jay of Clinton, Mo, daughter Carol Barbee of Crane, Mo and son Scott Jay and daughter in law Karen Jay of Blue Eye, Mo, brother Donald Jay of Lamar, Mo, brother Fred Jay of Neosho, Mo, as well as five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Through faith in Christ, his family knows we will see him again.

Visitation for Robert will be Friday, March 10, 2023, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Stumpff Funeral Chapel Kimberling City, MO

Arrangements are under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home Kimberling City, MO.
