Bill Boyd

William Paul Boyd, known affectionately as Bill to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2024, at Freeman West in Joplin.

Born to the union of Romane and Mildred Benjalou (Cathell) Boyd, on August 30, 1943, in Kirksville, Bill's early years were rooted in the heartland, where he spent many summers working on the family farms. After graduating from Joplin High School, Bill attained a degree in Business Administration, this foundation paved the way for a successful career in real estate.








In the midst of a summer job in Vail Colorado, Bill's life took a romantic turn when he met Silvianna Salazar. Their paths diverged but fatefully reconvened, leading to over 50 years of loving marriage. Together, they built a life full of joy, raising their children, embarking on numerous family vacations, and cherishing weekends at Beaver Lake. Bill enjoyed golf and was a devoted fan of the Cardinals Baseball team, and an active member of Joplin Elk's Lodge #501.

Survivors include his wife, Silvianna Boyd, of Joplin; children, Joseph Harp, DiAnna Harp, and Dylan Boyd and his wife, Beverly, all of Tulsa; grandchildren, Max Harp, Avery Harp, Daniel Harp, and Nathaniel Harp, also of Tulsa; siblings, Janice Gillum, and her husband, John, of Kirksville, and David Boyd, and his wife, Sharon, of Joplin; one niece, Liberty Boyer, and her husband, Matt, of Laramie, WY; and numerous extended family members. 








Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Romane and Mildred Benjalou (Cathell) Boyd and nephew Kelly Webb.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Ozark Memorial Park. Reception will follow for family and friends at Mytho’s 1306 S Rangeline, from 12:30 to 3:00. (lunch provided) Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Bill to the Joplin Elk’s Lodge #501 and may be entrusted to the mortuary.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
