(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)David Dorman, age 81, of Joplin, MO passed away on December 30th, 2024.
David was born on August 1st, 1943 in Seattle, WA to his loving parents, Kenneth and Elsie (Smith) Dorman.
David had many careers throughout his years; He worked for Boeing as a design engineer in 1961. He then began work for the Seattle Police Department in 1963 before transferring to Tukwila Police in 1969 to be closer to home and worked as a Safeway Dairy Manager as a second job.
He then worked for South Center Security as he was going to Seattle Community College in 1980 to get his Air and Power Plant license. He was then hired at Boeing as an Aircraft Mechanic and left in 1983 to go to Ozark Bible College in Joplin, MO to become a Pastor in Picher, OK. while also working for Joplin Airport as an Aircraft Mechanic. He then moved to Tucson, AZ in Jan 1990 due to health reasons and worked for Sears until he was hired at Evergreen Air.
He then moved back to Missouri in 1993 after finishing his tour in Desert Storm. He then moved back to Seattle to take care of his daughter and worked for Boeing until his retirement. After coming back to Joplin in 2001, he worked for his friend who owned Colaw RV until he retired again to go traveling.
He was married to his late wife, JoAnn Dorman, on January 4th, 1983 in Kirkland, WA until her passing on October 28th, 2009.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Elsie Dorman; his wife, JoAnn Dorman; one brother, Kenneth B. Dorman Jr; one daughter, Nicki Dorman.
He is survived by his best friend and significant other, Nancy Hall; one sister, Dianne Broaddus; one son, David Dorman Jr.; one granddaughter, Courtney Dorman; one great-grandson, Mateo David Hernandez.
