Carl Edward Shaw, age 88, of Joplin passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
He was born in Webb City, Missouri to Elver Shaw and Eva (Tilden) Shaw on April 8, 1927. Carl was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Carthage. He worked as an Acid Line Supervisor for Atlas Powder Company before his retirement, and was a cabinet maker in his spare time.
Carl married Virginia Shaw on June 10, 1969 and she preceded him in death on October 5, 2010. Carl was one of nine children, and is survived by his daughters from a previous marriage, Penny Gessler and husband Bill of Joplin, Carla Butler-Felts and husband Bruce of Carl Junction, Angela Groff and husband John of Webb City; brothers, Delmer Shaw of Webb City, Morris Shaw of Carl Junction; sisters, Carol Evans of Lee’s Summit, Doris Ozment of California; grandchildren, Heather Nelson, Adrienne Gessler, James Copley, Nicole` Copley; and 2 great grandchildren, Skyler Nelson and Kylee Morgan.
Funeral services were held on Friday, November 20, 2015 in the chapel of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. A visitation was held one hour prior to the service. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery with full military honors. Services are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. Visit www.simpsonfh.com for online condolences.
