Wayne J Sooter, age 66, of Pierce City, MO died on Monday, November 16, 2015 at Freeman Health System West in Joplin, MO. Wayne Sooter was born in Stella, MO on Sunday, June 26, 1949. He was the son of John and Pauline (Stephens) Sooter. Wayne Sooter married Paula Rowe Lee on October 9, 1971 in Monett, MO and she preceded him in death on December 21, 2005 he attended the First Baptist Church in Pierce City and worked for the City of Pierce City for many years before retiring in 2015.
Surviving are his four daughters: Rachel Sooter of Mt Vernon, MO Jeanne Gatewood of Sarcoxie, MO Christina Portillo of Pierce City, MO and Pauline Puckett of Pierce City, MO two sons: Wayne Sooter Jr. of Pierce City, MO and William Sooter of Pierce City, MO nineteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Lakin Funeral Home , in Pierce City, MO on Thursday, November 19, 2015 from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at The First Baptist Church in Pierce City, MO on Friday, November 20, 2015 beginning at 11:00 AM with Justin Guffey and Brother Jimmie Copley officiating. Burial will follow at Arnhart Cemetery near Purdy, MO.
