Tommy Miller

Tommy C. Miller, age 79, of Carthage, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

Mr. Miller, son of the late Dave Harlin and Garnet (Hollan) Miller, was born on March 5, 1941 in Stafford, AZ. After high school he served his country honorably in the United States Navy. On January 13, 1979 he was united in marriage to Rayma Leggitt, in Carthage. He was employed as a welder most of his life working in various locations in Oklahoma in the oil refinery business. He was very proud of his Native American Cherokee heritage and enjoyed learning about the history of the Cherokee people.








Survivors include his wife, Rayma Miller, of Carthage; two sons, Tim Miller, of Joplin, and Sam Miller, of New Jersey; two daughters, Tonya Clark, of Joplin, and Tammy Hensen, of Racine; one step-son Randy Kling, and his fiancée, Juanita, of Carthage; four brothers, Leon Miller, of Colony, OK, JD Miller, of Spiro, OK, Mike Miller, of Hydro, OK, and Johnny Miller, of Gaffney, SC; two sisters, Sue Jordon, of Granby, and Margo Lewis, of Grove, Ok; several grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Tony Miller; four brothers, Don Miller, Gus Miller, Danny Mark Miller, and Melvin Miller; and two sisters, Mary McCullar, and Lavon McCullar.

Memorial services with full military honors will be held on Monday, March 16, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary in Joplin with visitation to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and may be entrusted to the mortuary.
