Betty Jenness

Betty Ann Jenness, age 83, of Joplin, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021 at her home.

Betty, daughter to the late Floyd and Garnett (Hutson) Watkins, was born on December 14, 1937 in Joplin. 

On August 13, 1955 at Fairview Baptist Church in Joplin, she was united in marriage to Earl Jenness, who preceded her in death on May 6, 2016. Together they raised four children and were members of the Central Christian Center in Joplin. 








Betty worked outside the home being employed with Sears in retail for over 20 years, then as an Office Manager for Dr. Dan Haney, and retiring from St. John’s Hospital. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family will remember her love and the example she has set for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Vicki Nicoletti, and her husband, Terry, of Vincennes, IN, and Dr. Jeff Jenness, and his wife, Terri, of Jonesboro, AR, and Traci Hadley, and her husband, Ron, of Joplin; a daughter-in-law, Helen Jenness, of Webb City; one sister, Peggy Tate, and her husband, James, of Joplin; ten grandchildren; and six great grandchildren, awaiting the arrival of number seven. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Gary Jenness, on October 25, 2019.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Parker Mortuary in Joplin with burial to follow at Burkhart Cemetery in Racine. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Wednesday, May 12th from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Parker Mortuary in Joplin.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
