Gale Murphy

Marcia “Gale” Murphy, 74, of Parsons, passed away at 4:55 p.m., Thursday, May 13, 2021, at Good Samaritan Society.

She was born on August 14, 1946 in Parsons to Merlin Wayne and Agnes Irene (Hazlett) Myers. She grew up in Parsons and attended Labette County Community High School. Following high school, she attended Labette County Junior College.






 

Gale worked at the Good Samaritan Society in housekeeping in earlier years. She later worked at the Church of God as the church secretary and also was in charge of the Children’s Church Ministries. She helped with the vacation Bible School and enjoyed playing a clown to entertain the children.

She enjoyed playing Bingo, watching Wheel of Fortune, and Little House on the Prairie. Gale loved her cats and volunteered at the Proud Animal Lovers Shelter in Parsons.

In earlier years, she was a member of the Church of God and most recently was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.

She and Denny Lee Dietsche were married on October 3, 1964 and later divorced. She and Billy Eugene Murphy were married on August 5, 2000 and they also divorced.

Survivors include:

One Daughter, Julie Dietsche of Parsons, three grandchildren - Michael Bode and his wife Hillary, Joshua Bode, and Heather Bode, all of Parsons, one brother, Steven Johnston of Parsons, and two sisters, Diane Johnston of Sarcoxie, Missouri, and Linda McReynolds and her husband Pat of Parsons, and a son-in-law, John Bode.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Dale Myers, a sister Judy Paulson, and a daughter, Charlene Bode, on July 25, 2020.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
