Barbara Westhoff

Barbara M. Westhoff, 78, of Parsons, passed away at 7:10 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Valley Villa Nursing Home in Wamego, Kansas.

Barbara Marie Gale was born on November 21, 1945, to William Henry and Helen Barbara (Ferguson) Gale in Parsons, Kansas. She grew up and attended school in Parsons, graduating from Parsons High School in 1963.

 

On May 29, 1965, Howard Westhoff and Barbara M. Gale were united in marriage at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Parsons

The couple lived in St. Paul until moving to Parsons in 1975, where they had lived since.

A lifelong, devout Catholic, Barbara was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, until it closed and was currently a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She was a homemaker for her family and took great pride in raising her children. In later years, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Barbara was fond of her cat, Tigger.

Survivors include:

Two sons – Donald A. “Don” Westhoff (Deb), of Alma, Kansas

Dale W. Westhoff (Rhawnie) of Parsons, Kansas

Two daughters – Donna M. Westhoff (David Haskew) of Parsons, Kansas

Diana L. Mosley (Justin) of Granby, Missouri

Seven grandchildren

Fourteen great-grandchildren

One brother – Jerry Gale (Brenda) of Kerrville, Texas

One sister – Janet Ashcraft of Yukon, Oklahoma

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard Westhoff, on January 23, 2022; two brothers, Larry Gale and Bill Gale.

The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 22, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parsons. The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons. The family will receive friends following the rosary.
