Connie Brooks

Connie R. Brooks, 77, of Neosho, Missouri, formerly of Carthage, Missouri passed away at 7:55 am on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Medicalodges in Neosho after a short illness.

Connie was born August 12, 1947, in Odessa, Texas to Jay and Billie Besett. She, along with her husband Charles, owned the former Kell Drilling Supply Co. in Joplin for several years. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Duenweg, Missouri.







She was an avid animal lover, especially dogs. She and her husband, Charles were farmers and raised cattle over the years. She also was an avid music lover, especially classic country.

She married Charles E. Brooks on September 9, 1965, in Miami, Oklahoma after a short 18 days of knowing each other. They lived a life full of love and laughter until his passing on September 9, 2006. She was also preceded in death by one son, Tommy L. Brooks on November 13, 2017.

Survivors include; one son, David Brooks of Joplin, Missouri; one brother, Bill (Mavis) Besett of Springfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, Cherona (Robin) Hicklin, Tara (Isaac) Fritchey, Lindsey (Justin) Olds, April Smith, Chad (Chelsie) Brooks; 13 Great Grandchildren, Hadley Hicklin, Carson Hicklin, Case Fritchey, Tomi Fritchey, Brooks Olds, Dominic Smith, Devin Smith, Dayleigh Smith, Demi Smith, Cash Smith, Chase Brooks, Chesney Brooks, and Chaxson Brooks; two nephews, Brad (Shannon) Besett and Randy (Heather) Besett, and a host of other family members. 








Honorable mention of family and friends she leaves behind include Paul and Donna Brooks, Calvin and Judy Robertson, Regina McMillan, Sue Cooper, and her best friend since childhood, Kay Pendleton of Dallas, Texas. Her passing has left numerous broken hearts of family and those friends who were like family.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 pm Friday, October 18, 2024, at Mason-Woodard Chapel in Joplin, Missouri.

Per Connie’s wishes she will be cremated.

Interment of the cremains will be at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin, Missouri.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory in Joplin.
