(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Lelton Allen “Al” Gardner, 71, of Afton, Oklahoma, passed away on February 27, 2025, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
Al was born on February 4, 1954, in Noba, Alabama. Over the years he had resided in Alabama, Michigan, Florida, Kansas and Oklahoma.
He was the manager for the former TG&Y in the Automotive Department in Kansas and then was transferred to Enid, Oklahoma and then he worked for the former B’s Quality Doors in Enid, Oklahoma as a Garage Door Hanger before retiring.
He was of the Pentecost faith.
He served in the Army in the Vietnam and Iraq wars. He served a total of 35 years in the Army.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Moose Lodge, he loved Bingo, trips to the Casinos, Chevy trucks, and dearly loved our President Donald J Trump, big MAGA fan.
He married Mary Jester on September 8, 1993, in Enid, Oklahoma and she survives.
Other survivors include, two sons; Kenneth Barker of Joplin, Missouri and David Roberts of Lexington, Oklahoma, two daughters; Shelli (Richy) Daughtry of Afton, Oklahoma, Misty Gardner Phipps of Joplin, Missouri, one brother; Bill Gardner of Pensacola, Florida, two sisters; Peggy Sullivan of Washington, D.C., and Brenda Wilson, 15 Grandchildren; Destenie (Heath) Anderson, Madison Longpine, MaKayla (CJ) Arndt, Jewell Ford, Elizabeth Phipps, Cody Roberts, Aurora Barker and Bailey Barker; 10 Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter; LaDawn Klingensmith, his parents; Sam and Wanda Nix Gardner, three brothers; Cody Gardner, David Gardner, and Dale Gardner, two sisters; Ann Barker and Sheila Gardner.
There will be a Celebration of Life conducted at a later date.
