(From Midland Cremation Society)JoAnn Watts, age 86, an RN, died Friday February 28, 2025. She lived most of her life in the Columbus, KS area. She was born March 7, 1938 in Columbus, KS, the daughter of Roy & Latishie Cline.
She graduated with a nursing degree from Pittsburg State University, and then married Gary Watts on June 25th, 1958 in Columbus, KS.
JoAnn worked as a school nurse for the school district of Columbus, KS for many years until retirement. After retirement, Gary & JoAnn enjoyed traveling in their camper, watching their grandkids & great-grandkids in their activities & events, and horseback riding. In the later years, that often included horse camping in Pineville, MO.
Survivors include a son, Jim Watts, of El Dorado, KS; daughters Cyndie Howell, of Carl Junction, MO and Cheryl McReynolds, of Columbus, KS; 9 grandsons, and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, and her brother, Marvin Cline.
Memorial services will be Thursday, March 6th, at 2 p.m. at Fir Road Christian Church (6025 County Road 303, Carl Junction, MO) with visiting pastor Audie Tash, a long-time family friend, officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
