Kevin Southwick, my split-a-part, wonderful husband, and best friend, passed away on Aug 17, 2025, after an unexpected illness.
Kevin was the best little brother to Kim Martinez (Ray Gruender); doting lovable son to Ben and Janice Southwick; funniest, coolest uncle to Anna Martinez, Alec Martinez (Pfiefer), Karl and Danielle Kraemer; favorite nephew of Russ and Dona Jones and Caren Snider; perfect son-in-law to Judie and Charlie Kraemer; and best sidekick, skiing buddy, brother-in-law to Charlie Kraemer (Michelle) and Ray Gruender and cousin Jeremy Jones.
Born in Joplin, MO in 1968, Kevin graduated from Joplin High School, graduated from Missouri Southern State University with a BA in Economics and Finance. Kevin moved to Orlando, FL in 1995 with his girlfriend (Janine Cookie Kraemer) who he married in 1998. We moved to Santa Fe in 2014 with plans to retire here.
Kevin has been a Rotarian for 25 plus years and the most recent past President of the Rotary Club of Santa Fe and current President of the Rotary Club Foundation of Santa Fe. He loved giving back to the community, volunteering often. Volunteering gave him much joy and satisfaction. Volunteering was an important part of his life at Del Norte Credit Union, where he worked for the last 10 years. Kevin mentored many at Del Norte Credit Union and his co-workers have gushed with praises about his work ethic, and humbleness.
Kevin passionately loved the KC Chiefs, Santa Fe, margaritas, breakfast burritos, music, golf, skiing, his four-legged kids and of course his family.
Kevin leaves this world having so many loving family, friends, fellow Rotarians and co-workers missing him deeply wondering how/why such a good soul with a big heart could be taken so suddenly and quickly. He arrived in the emergency room after assisting someone with moving their car out of the road before collapsing.
