(From Parker Mortuary)Paul Douglas Waggoner, age 54, Joplin passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at a local hospital.
He was a Miraculous Mystery to his family. He was born December 9, 1970 in Joplin, and grew up in Carthage, MO attending College View State School where he graduated with honors. He worked for the Sheltered Workshop in the laundry department. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he volunteered as a janitor, and was a faithful assistant with the Meals on Wheels with the Day Program at Fire Fly helping with the elderly. He loved to go antique shopping and do puzzles. Paul brought joy to everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Paul was preceded in death by a brother, Bryan Waggoner.
Survivors include his mother, Joyce Van Hoose and husband Scott of Joplin; father, Larry Waggoner of Joplin; sister, Anne Shipman and husband Austin of Joplin; brothers, Scott Van Hoose, Jr. and wife Debbie of Blue Jacket, OK, David Van Hoose of Columbus, KS, and Richard Van Hoose and wife Robin of Quapaw, OK; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be held at a later date at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Daniel Robles officiating.
Inurnment of his ashes will follow in Park Cemetery, Carthage, MO.
