(From Greenfield Funeral Chapel)Jess Loyd LaFon, a loving father and devoted husband, passed away peacefully at Freeman Hospital on August 31, 2025 at the age of 80. He was surrounded by his family.
Born in Carthage, Missouri to Hobart and Marie LaFon. Jess graduated from Golden City High School in 1963. He dedicated over 20 years to O’Sullivan Industries. He also worked a part time job doing farm work, which he loved.
In 1973 he married his beloved wife, Kathy, and together they raised four children, Corey, Brandy, Kimi, and Dustin.
Jess is survived by his wife Kathy, of 52 years, his children, Corey LaFon of Lockwood, Brandy Garten of Golden City, Kimi (Johnny) Kennon of Lockwood, and Dustin (Amanda) LaFon of Lockwood. He is survived by his 12 grandchildren, Kayden LaFon, Kelsey Pennell, Haden Garten, Brandon Garten, Kaylee (Ben) Kleeman, McKenzie (Stoney) Jackson, Hunter Kennon, Hannah Kennon, Johnnie Ryan, Hannah Steeley, Chloe LaFon, and Mason LaFon. He is also survived by 3 great grandchildren, Kendyll Johnson, Briggs Garten, and Stratton Garten.
He was preceded in death by his parents Hobart and Marie LaFon, along with his three brothers, Grant LaFon, Arlow LaFon, and Rowe LaFon.
In Jess’ pastime he loved fishing, deer hunting, watching western films, playing with Pickles and Gunner (his beloved dogs), and drag racing at Mo-Kan Dragway in his earlier years. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, and watching his grandchildren play sports.
The Visitation will be held between 2pm - 3pm on Saturday September 6, 2025, with the funeral service to follow. The events will take place at Lockwood United Methodist Church in Lockwood, Missouri. Donations can be made out to the Gastric Cancer Foundation, or the American Heart Association. Services are under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
