Ray Crane

Raymond Eugene “Ray” Crane, age 71, of Webb City, Missouri, departed this life suddenly on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, in the comfort of his home. He entered this life on February 18, 1954, in Joplin, Missouri, the third of ten children born to the late Eugene and Sylvia (Holden) Crane.

Ray is survived by his wife of nearly fifty-three years, Sheila Crane of the home, whom he married on September 12, 1972; two children, Chad Crane of Webb City, Missouri and Tracy Crane Burgun of Joplin, Missouri; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Stan Crane and wife, Patty, of Webb City, Missouri and Jimmy Crane and wife, Charlene, of Joplin, Missouri; four sisters, Laura Roush, Patricia Crane, Sandy Miller and Debbie Crane all of Joplin, Missouri; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Raised in Oronogo, Missouri, Ray was a 1973 graduate of Webb City High School. His strong work ethic was evident throughout his life, as he dedicated 13 years to Missouri Steel before finding his calling with the Webb City R-7 School District. For 31 years, Ray served as a school janitor, a role he performed with pride and diligence until his retirement in 2019.

Beyond his professional life, Ray was a man of simple pleasures. He found joy in watching television, a pastime that allowed him to unwind and stay connected to the world. Ray was also an avid walker, often seen strolling through the streets of Webb City, but perhaps his greatest delight was having his grandchildren over to the house, where laughter and love filled the rooms. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his memory will continue to inspire and comfort his family and friends.
