Denise Mallatt

Denise Rene' Mallatt passed from this life on Tuesday, December 16th, 2025, surrounded by people who loved her. She was 60 years old.

She was born on April 25th, 1965, to Dennis Wayne Mallatt and Carla Raye Dugan in Baxter Springs, KS. She attended Parkwood High School in Joplin, MO and graduated with the class of 1983. She worked many different jobs throughout the years, but later in life she was self-employed as a housekeeper and continued doing cleaning jobs until her body quit allowing her to.

Denise loved the color yellow, tiger, the Kansas City Chiefs, anything that had a little sparkle to it, and plants of all kinds, but roses were her favorite, which is funny because while she had a green thumb and could grow mostly anything, she had a hard time with rose bushes! Her favorite hobby was working in her yard, which she turned into her own little oasis. She was a rock n' roll enthusiast and would take any opportunity to turn up her favorite songs and sing as loud as she could. She was quick with humor and kept it until the very end.

The one thing she was most proud of was her daughter, Kaitlyn, whom she loved more than anything. Denise always said "she is my angel from Heaven and the best thing I have ever done."

Denise is proceeded in death by her dad, Dennis Mallatt. She is survived by her mom, Carla Dugan (husband, Jerry) of Galena, KS; brother Michael Mallatt (Yvonne), of Galena, KS; her daughter, Kaitlyn Welch-Wright (husband, Brantley) of Webb City, MO, and an extended host of family and friends.

She has been entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home for cremation. A memorial visitation will be held from 5-6:00PM on Tuesday, December 30th, 2025, at Derfelt Funeral Home in Galena, KS.
