Erma Jean Weeks, 85, passed away April 3, 2017 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin. Erma was born August 17, 1931 in Jasper County, MO to Ray and Hester (Weir) Askins. Erma was a lifetime Carthage resident and worked at the Jasper County Health Department from 1967 to 1997, and retired in 1997. Her husband LeRoy pastored the Brooklyn Heights Baptist Church for 25 years. She currently was a member of the Carterville First Baptist Church.
Erma was united in marriage to LeRoy Weeks February 2, 1954 in Purcell, Missouri; he preceded her in death December 26, 2005.
Erma is survived by two daughters: Charlotte Hall and husband Tommy of Carthage and Betty Harrington and husband Douglas of Adrian, MI, four grandchildren: Ben Harrington, Bethany Patel, Cari Brownell and Scott Harrington, and six great grandchildren.
Erma is preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister Ruth Bowman.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday April 5, 2017 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Purcell Cemetery.
Contributions can be made to First Baptist Church of Carterville, MO in care of Ulmer Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
