Carl Simpson

Carl Edward Simpson, age 72, Joplin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at his retirement home in Sarcoxie, MO.

Carl was born on May 5, 1948 in Joplin, Missouri, son of the late George Simpson and Hazel Simpson. He attended Diamond Schools, served in the United States Navy. He has lived the Joplin area, as well as Pensacola, Florida, Salem and Boston, Massachusetts, during his time in the Navy. 

He married Melody Simpson in 1969. They were married for 50 years, and the couple had two sons of their own, Lance and Chad Simpson, along with two adopted daughters, Sherry and Jasmine Simpson.








He began his working career as a Navy Sailor, before working as a fireman for 20 years, and ending his career at General Mills for over 15 years.

He moved back to Joplin after his career in the Navy, building his life with his wife and four children. He was an avid woodworker, and enjoyed being in nature. He enjoyed spending time with his family and working on models of vintage cars and aircraft.

Survivors include his wife, Melody Simpson of Joplin; children, Lance Simpson and wife Denisa of Webb City, Chad Simpson and wife Kimberly of Neosho, Sherry Simpson of Joplin, and Jasmine Simpson and significant other Stephen Lizotte, of Neosho; grandchildren, Carter and Michael of Joplin, Katie of Miami, Caleb and Ethan of Diamond, and Deven of Joplin; great grandchildren, Daniel and Jack of Joplin, Willow and Timberly of Miami, Ripley of Alba; sisters, Donna and Kenny of Joplin, and Juanita and Jerry of Monett.

There will not be a memorial service, per his wishes. In lieu of flowers, he asks donations of toys be sent to the Joplin Area Firefighters Christmas for Kids.
