Betty Webb

Betty Jean Webb, Age 91, was escorted by Angels from this earth into the waiting arms of Jesus on Saturday, July 3rd 2021. Betty had lived in Baxter Springs for the past 28 years, after moving from her dream home along Shoal Creek, which was destroyed by the flood of 1993. Rather than rebuild for another flood, she and her husband moved to Baxter Springs.

Always wanting to return, but remaining in Baxter Springs, she died with the longing in her heart to return to the home that her husband had built for them along the banks of Shoal Creek.

Betty was born in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma on August 20, 1929 to Norval Hogard and Anna (Moody) Hogard. She married Leroy (Buddy) Carl Webb, of Galena, KS on the 24th of February, 1946. Leroy passed August 9, 2009. They were married 63 years.

Betty worked in the home for several years before taking a bookkeeping job with Triangle Oldsmobile in Joplin, MO. After Triangle closed, she worked for Dan Stanley Ford, R&S Chevrolet, and Roper Pontiac. Spending 24 years in the automotive dealership business, she retired in 1993. She was a member of The Joplin Women’s Credit Union Club and the Joplin Business and Professional Women’s Club.

At home, she volunteered with Cub Scouts as a Den Mother, attended practically every baseball game that her sons played, worked for the March of Dimes, and sold Avon. She was also involved with church, singing specials, and teaching adult Sunday School when needed. When she passed away, she was a member of First Assembly of God in Baxter Springs.

There was nothing that she loved more than her family. She enjoyed spending time in the out-of-doors. She fished, hunted, camped, attended sporting events the boys were involved in, and enjoyed picnics, family reunions etc.

Survivors include, but are not limited to, two sons, Dan Webb of Riverton, KS, Bud Webb, and wife Charlene of Grove, OK, two grandsons, Colby Webb and wife Amanda, Riverton, KS, and David Webb and wife Kari, Mustang, OK, nine great grandchildren, and three close cousins, Marsha, Ruby Anna , and Maryellen. She had no siblings.

According to Betty, the most important thing in life was to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, accept Him as your savior, obey His Word, and learn to love and forgive one another.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 am, Friday, July 9, 2021 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Pastor Steven Bell will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS.
