Tom Bodine

(From Callison-Lough Funeral Home)

One of God's most gentle souls left this world Saturday, July 10, 2021 in Bentonville while surrounded by his family. William Thomas Bodine Jr., age 72, better known as Tom by those privileged enough to know him, was born in Sedalia, Mo., on May 20, 1949 to the late William "Bill" Bodine and Delores "Jeanie" Croy Bodine.

He attended Sacred Heart School in Sedalia, and two years at Del Buffalo Seminary in Liberty, Mo. It was after his return from the seminary that he met the love of his life, Roberta "Bobbie" Shull, and they married June 27, 1970. Their family became complete when in 1983 their much yearned for beautiful baby girl, Heather Leigh, arrived, and he is survived by them.

Tom was well known as the quiet, jolly spirit who had a quick wit, a welcoming smile, and gentle heart. Many remember him from the Sedalia Post Office window where he warmly greeted and served people for 30 years.

After retirement he worked for both the Isle of Capri Casino and as a security guard for Alcan until his health failed. He and Bobbie both moved to Bentonville, Ark. in 2018 to be closer to their daughter.

No matter where he was Tom was patient and kind to everyone he met. He never forgot a name and was quick to thank others for anything they did for him. He always looked out for others as he did throughout his life with all his four brothers, Terry (Dottie) of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; Tim (Georgina) of Webb City, Mo.; Chris (Nancy) and his sister, Shelly (Creig) Sterrett, both of Bentonville; his sister-in-law, Debbie McGirt of Bunceton, Mo., brother-in-law, Leroy Shull of Kearney, Mo.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and dear friends who survive. He was often chosen to be the godfather for many of his nieces and nephews.

In earlier years, he loved to golf and was a Chiefs fan in good times and bad. As a dad, he never missed a ball game or performance and was there to support any family member who needed anything. His heart and door were always open.

Tom's Funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville. Memorials are suggested to Birthright of Sedalia, 1810 W. 11th St, Sedalia, Mo. 65301. Arrangements are under the care of Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville.
