Robbie King

Robbie Sue (Johnston) King was born August 29th, 1930 in White Plains, KY to Lewis & Blanche (Allen) Johnston. 

The family moved to Wayne, MI during WWII where Lewis worked at the Willow Run Bomber Plant. This is where Robbie met the love of her life Wilford Eugene King after he returned from serving overseas in the Army. 

They were united in marriage June 24th 1950. To this union four children were born. The family remained in Westland, MI until moving to Lamar in 1969 where Robbie resided until her health prompted her move to her son Bill’s home in Little Rock, AR earlier this year. 








Robbie was a bank teller early in her career and then thrived as a mom, church & community volunteer. Wilford and Robbie started the Good Samaritan Shop in Lamar and she also volunteered with March of Dimes, Salvation Army, and Red Cross. 

Robbie was a very good cook specializing in pie and southern comfort foods. She was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church and Lamar Red Hats. 

Robbie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wilford, daughter Marcia Pennell, great grandson Colby Preston and sister Betty Jo Prieskorn. 

She is survived by her sister Nell Ruth Finley-Vorhees of Lamar, daughters Jacqueline Sue (Steve) Bruce Raytown, Patricia (Dan) Preston Branson, son William (Lisa) King Little Rock AR, grandchildren Jessica (James) Cunningham Clever, Nathan (Kaitlan) Preston McKinney TX, Matthew (Emily) Preston Lee’s Summit, Elijah (Natasha) Preston Crane, Kevin King Fayetteville AR & Kara King Rogers AR, and great grandchildren Camden, Conner, Cooper, Jaxan, Brendan, Addie Grace, Elias and Haisley Preston, wonderful friend Doris Wehr who enabled Robbie to stay in her home before moving to Maples Senior Living and Joe, Beth and residents at Maples who became family especially during the pandemic. 

Donations in lieu of flowers can made to the Ministerial Alliance or to Cornerstone Baptist Church. 

The family will receive visitors at 9:30 am and the services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday August 21, 2021, at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Lamar, MO. A private family interment will follow. The family requests that masks are worn and social distancing is followed.
