(From Lawson's Funeral Homes)Joe Lee Jones, 72, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 6, 2021 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO. He was born at home in Delaware County on January 19, 1949 to his parents, Chester and Ella Jane Jones of Colcord, OK.
Joe was a member of Piney Baptist Church of Jay, OK. He married Karen Tennison on February 11, 2020, in Miami, OK and they have been together for 40 years.
Joe was a Truck Driver all of his life. He loved to do the hog fry for Piney’s Quartey meeting and family reunions, along side of his son Kenny Jones. His most favorite thing to do was spending time with his family. Joe also enjoyed going to auctions. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Ella Jane Jones; brothers, Paul and Leroy Jones; 2 grandsons, Kendal Kirby and Kenny (Joe Joe) Jones, Jr.; son-in-law, Rodney Tacker and niece, Ashton Danielle Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Jones of the home; 5 sons, Kenny Jones and wife Summer of Jay, OK, Henry Jones and wife Beth of Jay, OK, Darrel of Jay, OK, Stepsons Denton and Dustin Kingfisher of Jay, OK; 2 daughters, Angie Tacker of Jay, OK and Sheryl Jones of the home; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 13 siblings, Lizzie Nicholas of Jay, OK, Shirley Jones of Jay, OK, Mary Asher of Siloam Springs, AR, Emma James of Murphy, NC, Jess Jones, Jr. and wife Anita of Jay, OK, Laverne Brazil of Jay, OK, L.D. Jones and wife Sheila of Jay, OK, Robert Jones of Jay, OK, Jan Wells and husband Chris of Siloam Springs, AR, Michelle Jones and friend Charles Gatewood of Jay, OK, Carla Anderson and husband Tony of Joplin, MO; 2 adoptive brothers, Randy Trujillo of Jay, OK and Jason Holdridge of Siloam Springs, AR; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Joe’s wake service will be held at 6:00pm followed by his family visitation to greet friends until 8:00pm on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Lawson’s Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 311 W. Gray St., Jay, OK 74346. Joe’s Celebration Of Life Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 13, 2021 at 2:00pm, Piney Baptist Church, 15630 E 450 Rd., Jay, OK with Pastor Jess Jones officiating. Burial will follow to O’Field Cemetery, Jay, OK.
