Bill Rohr

William Edwin “Bill” Rohr, age 93, Carthage, MO passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Freeman West in Joplin.

Bill was born July 9, 1930 in Pittsburg, KS, son of the late Edwin William Rohr and Valarie E. (Love) Rohr. He graduated from Pittburg High School before attending Pittsburg State College. He then joined the United States Army where he served in Germany during the Korean Conflict. 








He returned to Joplin where he worked for over 40 years with Ernie Williamson Music Store in Joplin. He also enjoyed playing big band dance music with Bill Rohr and the Esquires, who played all around the Joplin area for years. He was a Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the Methodist faith. He loved spending time with his wife at the local dance halls for years and was always available to his children for all their activities. He enjoyed his family very much and was especially fond of spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Joyce (Thompson) Rohr, who passed away on November 23, 2020, and a brother, Robert Wayne Rohr.

Survivors include his children; Jana Lee Hunter and husband Elliott of Carthage, Bill R. Rohr and wife Karen of Joplin, Barry Rohr and wife Jennifer of Baxter Springs, KS, and Bryon Rohr and wife Tracey of Carthage; nine grandchildren; Samantha Brunnert (Justin), Ashley Wells (Darryl Moore), Valarie Rohr, Sarah Lanyon, Jordan Lee, Camry Davis, Kenzie Lee, Hope and Harley Rohr; seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.








Graveside service will be Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at Park Cemetery, Carthage, MO with Pastor Jeffrey Bell officiating and full military honors.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Carthage Humane Society or the Carthage VFW.
