Claude Holden

Claude Holden, Jr., age 87, Cleora, Oklahoma, passed away at 2:34 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2019 at Freeman West Hospital.

Claude was born November 5, 1932 in Quapaw, Oklahoma to the late Claud Holden and Geneva Divine Holden.

He worked as a civil service employee as a B1 bomber inspector for many years. Claude was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in the 319th Air Guard Fighter Squadron during the Korean War.

Following retirement, Claude moved to the Woodland Shores community of Grand Lake. There, he enjoyed everything a lakeside community had to offer. He built model airplanes and became the community 'fix it' man, working on small engines of all types and operating a mower shop. He was so loved and respected by everyone there that they named a local park after him, 'Holden Park'. Claude will be missed by everyone that knew him.

He married Earline Sue Rowe on March 1, 1958 in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives.








Additional survivors include three children, Kathy Shoaff and husband, Eric, Carl Junction, Becky Stafford and husband, David, California City, California, Mark Holden, Wichita, Kansas; one sister, Sue Holden Waldo, Peculiar, Missouri; grandchildren, Hannah, Josh, David Lee, Claudia, Brandi; and great grandchildren, Jonathan, Paisley, Hailey, Maxton and Claude.

In addition to his parents, Claude was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emily.

Services are planned for Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow in G.A.R. Cemetery, Miami, Oklahoma, with full military honors.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
