David Renburg

(From Parker Mortuary)

David Carl Renburg, age 74, Diamond, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Mercy Hospital after a sudden illness.

David was born November 4, 1945 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Dorothy Brothers Renburg and the late Carl Renburg and grew up in Comfrey, Minnesota and spent most of his life in Joplin.

David worked in the transportation industry for over fifty years. He drove for several trucking companies, including Wildcat Enterprises and Longhorn Produce. The most exciting part of his career came between 1974-1976, when he drove a truck in Alaska hauling supplies for the Alaskan Pipeline. This included several trips out on to the Arctic Ocean, nine miles north of Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Following retirement, he worked part time as a driver for Bagby Trucking in Carthage.

When he wasn't on the road, David enjoyed fishing the many waterways that this area had to offer. As a trout fisherman, Roaring River State Park was a given on March 1 of every year. He also enjoyed fishing the boundary waters in Canada and Northern Minnesota. David was a forty four year member of Central Christian Center and a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving in Vietnam.

He loved his family with all his heart. He cherished the time he spent watching his two granddaughters participate in their activities. Whether he was in the audience at a dance competition, recital, high school play, or in the stands at a swim meet or graduation, David was always there to show his support. David believed that when you have good friends and good family, you are rich beyond measure. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.

He married Elizabeth Mueller on August 27, 1969 in Carthage. She survives at the home.

Additional survivors include a son, Michael Renburg and his wife, Michelle, Oronogo; one brother, Tom Renburg and friend, Tammy Harris, Joplin; a sister, Virginia Thomas, Joplin; his mother, Dorothy Renburg, Joplin; two grandchildren, Morgan Massey, Springfield, Maggie Renburg, Oronogo; and several extended family members including, Misty Bowman and husband, Rob, Travis Renburg and wife, Angie, Carla Stanton and husband, Richard, and Carl Zimmerman.

In addition to his father, David was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Renburg; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Renburg.

Services are planned for Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Central Christian Center. Pastor Hank Deslatte and Rev. Doug Wilkerson will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary.
